Ghoul/Intermediate Level Hard-Core/Tankcrimes/2013 EP Review

Ghoul  are  a  band  from  Oakland,  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  punk,  thrash,  death  metal  and grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  ep  "Intermediate  Level  Hard-Core"  which  was  released  by  Tankcrimes  and  all  of  the  songs  are  cover  tunes.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  not  much  in t he  way  of  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  punk,  thrash,  death  and  grindcore  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  while t he  lead  guitars  are  very  old  school  sounding  punk/metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  range  from  hardcore  style  shouts,  deep  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  grindcore  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  political  themes,  as  for t he  production  it  has  a v ery  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Ghoul  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  punk,  thrash,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Americanized"  which  is  a  Gwar  cover  and  "Propaganda  Control"  which  is  a  N.O.T.A  cover.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
